
Liaquat Ali Lucky
Liaquat Ali Lucky was born on 13 January, 1957 to the parents Sheikh Sadek Ali and Majeda Begum. He obtained his graduation (Honours) and post graduation degrees on English Literature from Dhaka University. Aside from these he has obtained a diploma in library science from Dhaka University, a 5 year certificate course on classical music from Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) and an one year course on Japanese language from Embassy of Japan, Bangladesh. He is an actor, director, singer, composer and cultural organizer. He has performed in 58 dramas, directed 82 dramas and has written and transformed 8 dramas. He has actively organized and participated in a number of theatre related festivals, symposiums, seminars and workshops. For his important contributions in the cultural fields of Bangladesh he has achieved Dhaka University Gold Medal in 1984, the ‘Samalay’ award from Kolkata for his outstanding performance as a children organizer, ‘The Face of Bengal’ award given by The face of Bengal organization of West Bengal for being the best actor in both Bangladesh and West Bengal, ‘Honorary Cultural Envoy of Japan (2004) awarded by the governor of Toyama prefecture of Japan, ‘The Unique Group Gold Medal’ (2000) for his special contributions in cultural fields, ‘Friend of Children’ & ‘Best Children Organizer’ medals from almost fifty children organizations of Bangladesh, ‘Artistic Excellence for Children and Youth Theatre- 2011’ from ASSITEJ, ‘Munir Chowdhury Medal- 2013’, poet Mahbub ul Alam Chowdhury award- 2015 and ‘Journalist Bojlur Rahman memorial medal- 2015 awarded by Khelaghor. Liaquat Ali Lucky’s organizational experiences and earned designations include his services as The Chairman of the Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, founding Secretary General of People’s Theatre Association, founder and Director of Folk Theatre, founder and present Vice- President of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, member of the executive committee of ITI, Bangladesh, President of Asian regional committee of International Amateur Theatre Association and member of the Central Children and Youth standing committee.
