Drama and Music Therapy for Rohingya Children:
People’s Theatre Association and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are jointly conducting drama and music therapy to boost mental health of the Rohingya children who have fled to Bangladesh to escape the violence in Myanmar and are now living in refugee camps.
A troupe consisting of cultural activists visited Rohingya camps in Palong Khali, Thang Khali, Balukhali and other camps on 7-8 October 2019 and entertained Rohingya children, many of whom have lost their parents. The troupe is now working at Rohingya camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf. The cultural activists are promoting different cultural activities like acting, mask making, singing and others among the Rohingya children. ‘It is really amazing that Rohingya children are showing great interest in our drama therapy sessions. We hope to help them resist depression and bounce back’,
Drama Therapy for SIDOR affected Children:
People’s Theatre Association organized Drama Therapy in collaboration with Rakhal in 2006 for the mental development of children’s who affected by Cyclone Sidor.
This activities Planned and directed by Mr. Liaquat Ali Lucky, Founding Secretary General of People’s Theater Association. ‘Drama therapy is popular across the globe. Drama therapy is the use of theatre techniques to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health. It is used in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, mental health centers, prisons, and businesses to help people. We hope the therapy would bring good results’.
